Adultism

Last Wednesday Martha and Greg's 8th grade class went down to a breakfast/lobbying protest and then to the Georgia State Capital to lobby for HB 200, which is a human trafficking bill. When we were at the lobbying workshop people kept looking at us and making comments to us like we were either dumb little kids or sketchy 8th grade kids. One lady said to my classmate, a growing boy, "there are 80 people here, don't be a pig." He didn't even have that much on his plate. Another lady talked to us like we were 5 thinking that we couldn't carry a plate and a drink at one time. Lastly, after the workshop two, white, lunch bags were taken. The lady at the church that was hosting the breakfast emailed our teacher and told her we stole them, not asked if we did. That was really the only time in my life where I have really noticed Adultism towards myself but I am sure it has and will happen many more times.
